911 Call: Charges Filed in Shooting of Wake County Sheriff's Deputy

The information immediately below was distributed at 3:51 p.m. on June 3:

The Raleigh Police Department has charged Eddie Dewain Craig (DOB 1/23/89) with two (2) counts of Assault with a Dangerous Weapon With Intent to Kill; three (3) counts of Attempted Murder; three (3) counts of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Firearm; and Assault With a Dangerous Weapon With Intent to Kill Inflicting Serious Injury. These charges are in connection with the shooting of a Wake County Sheriff's Deputy who was attempting to serve an eviction notice at 2320 Torquay Crossing.

Raleigh Police Department officers responded to a radio dispatch of an officer shot at approximately 10:15 a.m. Upon arrival, they located the injured deputy, transported him away from the scene, and transferred him to a waiting Wake County EMS vehicle. The deputy was then transported for treatment of his serious injuries. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. 

The Raleigh Police Department is leading the investigation into this incident. There are no further details at this time.
