Ride the Bus for Free on Election Day, October 8!
Free Transportation Includes GoRaleigh and GoRaleigh Access

The City of Raleigh will hold its municipal elections on Tuesday, Oct. 8.  In an effort to encourage participation and to help citizens exercise their right to vote, the Raleigh City Council approved providing free transportation on GoRaleigh buses on election day.

Studies have shown that a lack of access to transportation bars a percentage of citizens from voting.  A 2016 Massachusetts Institute of Technology survey suggests transportation was one of the reasons 31 percent of registered voters did not vote that year.

GoRaleigh is the City’s public transit bus service for all residents.  GoRaleigh operates 84 buses, serving approximately 17,000 passengers per day, and covers a territory of 144 square miles.
