Circuit building workshop for teens on January 26th

Got a knack for tech? If so, this program is sure to be the megabyte you’ve been looking for!

Join us at Saint Monica Teen Center for the Lightwave Communicator Make & Take Workshop. Participants, ages 12-14, will build an electronics kit to send and receive Morse Code messages, explore the tech behind sending signals with light - from fiber optic Internet lines to laser tag games - and pair up to transmit and decode secret messages. Learn about circuitry components hands-on and take home the kit of parts to rebuild and experiment.

Raleigh Youth Council accepting new members for the 2019 year

Are you a high school student interested in initiating, organizing and executing programs and projects that benefit you? The Raleigh Youth Council (RYC) is a program led by teens for teens. The next Raleigh Youth Council meeting is Monday, January 14th at Laurel Hills Community Center from 7:00 PM -8:00 PM. Hope to see you there!

TOP After School Program re-opens on January 3rd

The TOP After School Program is a free program for middle and high school aged teens. The program operates at 9 locations throughout Raleigh. Activities include teen clubs, athletics, arts, recreational games, field trips, adventure programs, skill building programs, and more.

Capture it! Stormwater Arts Contest

The City of Raleigh’s “Capture it! Stormwater Arts Contest” is an opportunity for students in 8th through 12th grades to capture the importance of stormwater runoff through art and film. This will bring more awareness to the positive impacts the community can have on the environment by keeping waterways clean.  Winning entry will receive $500!

There’s bound to be great football action and plenty of hilarious commercials as well. And no Super Bowl Party would be complete without some snacks to enjoy during the game!

Introduction to Music – Age: 12-17yrs. Introduction to Music will allow students to master musical skills and concepts by hands-on participation. Students will perform with instruments such as guitar, violin, cello, harp, drums, flute, and voice. The class will foster the ability to read and notate music, develop a listening ear and create compositions that translate thoughts and emotions into musical expression.
