Raleigh Yard Waste Center Offering
Buy-One, Get-One Free Sale on Compost May 7-12

In celebration of International Compost Awareness Week, Raleigh area residents and businesses can take advantage of a great deal on bulk or bagged compost with a buy-one, get-one-free promotion at the City’s Yard Waste Center. The sale runs from May 7 through May 12.

Customers are limited to one truck load, for free, per day, and they must bring their own container.

The Yard Waste Center is located at 900 N. New Hope Road and is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. until 4 p.m. Customers may use cash, checks, Visa, and MasterCard.

The source of the Yard Waste Center’s compost is residential yard waste from the City’s curbside collection program, including tree branches and grass clippings. The center generates approximately 19,000 tons of mulch and compost per year for use in residential and commercial landscaping, sports fields, and gardens. The goal of the program is to divert material that can be recycled from the landfill.

The compost is tested quarterly to meet the U.S. Composting Council’s ASTM standards.
