Six Forks Corridor Study

At the City Council meeting held on March 20, these items were scheduled for public hearing on June 5, 2018, at 7 p.m.:

Portions of the comprehensive plan amendments related to Six Forks Road Corridor Study:

  • CP-5B-17 Street Map Amendment for Six Forks Road; its intersection with Windel Drive; its intersection with Snelling Road; its intersection with Loft Lane; Millbrook Road; its intersection with Tralee Place.
  • CP-5C-17 Area Plans Locations Amendment to add the study boundaries to the Comprehensive Plan.
  • CP-5D-17 Area Plan AP-SF to add area specific guidance, specifically only the following of the written policies:
    • AP-SF-1 Six Forks Corridor – “Complete Streets” policy.
    • AP-SF-2 Six Forks Road Streetscape Design.
    • AP-SF-3 Neighborhood Gateways.
    • AP-SF-4 Environmental Sensitivity.
    • AP-SF-5 Public Art.

Council took these additional actions related to Six Forks Corridor Study:

  • Removed from the proposed amendments CP-5D-17, the zoning and frontage recommendations.
    • AP-SF-6 Guide Future Zoning.
    • AP-SF-7 Future Street Connections.
      • Map AP-SF1 Recommended Frontages and Building Heights.
  • Authorized stricken items are moved to the scope of work for the Midtown-St. Albans Area Plan.
  • Requested that Planning Commission deliver by May 15 their recommendation regarding CP-5A-17, which includes amendments for Future Land Use Map amendments in three locations along the corridor; and any other remaining parts of the plan. The Planning Commission’s Committee of the Whole will discuss this item on April 26.
  • Expressed intent to schedule a June 5 public hearing for CP-5A-17 and any other remaining aspects of the plan.
