Raleigh to Conduct Two Citywide Passes to Collect Storm-Related Yard Waste Debris

The City of Raleigh will conduct two sweeps of the city to collect yard waste debris resulting from Hurricane Matthew. The first collection pass begins Tuesday, Oct. 18, and the second pass starts Monday, Oct. 31.

Smithsonian Institution's Indian American Exhibit Comes to Raleigh Oct. 29

The Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibition, “Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation,” is coming to the City of Raleigh Museum (COR Museum). The first-of-its-kind exhibition opens Oct. 29 and will run through April 2, 2017, at the Downtown museum located at 220 Fayetteville St. in Suite 220.

City to Formally Open Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center on Saturday

The City of Raleigh Parks, Recreation and Cultural Resources Department will open the Thomas G. Crowder Woodland Center on Saturday, Oct.15 at 10 a.m. The public is invited to the dedication ceremony. After the ceremony, there will be demonstrations highlighting upcoming programs at the center.

Oct. 14 The following route will be closed from 3 p.m. until 4 p.m. for a parade:

  • The parade will begin on Clay Street between Brooklyn Street and St. Mary's Street;
  • Turn right on St. Mary's Street;
  • Left on Nichols Drive;
  • Right on Sutton Drive;
  • Left on Daniels Street;
  • LEft on Smallwood Drive;
  • Left on Cameron Street; and,
  • Right to finish on Broughton High School private property.

Oct. 15 Clifton Street will be closed between Lafayette Road and Frank Street from 12 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Oct. 15 Jeffries Street will be closed between Stockton Drive and Norman Place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Oct. 15 Traffic will be impacted downtwon for a road race between 10:30 a.m. and noon. A map of the course can be found online. West Johnson Street will be closed between Glenwood Avenue and North West Street from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also, North West Street will be closed between West Johnson Street and West Peace Street from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Oct. 15 Traffic will be impacted behind Brier Creek Shopping Center from 7:45 a.m. until 10 a.m. for a road race. Runners will begin on the property and use Arco Corporate Drive.

Oct. 15 Traffic will be impacted from 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. near North Hills for a fundraising walk. The course map is available online.

Oct. 15 Hargett Street will be closed from 8 a.m. until 8 p.m. from Dawson Street and McDowell Street. Martin Street will be closed from Dawson Street to McDowell street during the same period.
