
On Saturday November 14, student volunteers from NC State led "Running With the Pack" for teen members of the Saint Monica Teen Center. The students led the teens through a campus tour of the university which included classrooms, athletic facilities, the free expression tunnel, cafeteria and more! The teens truly got a taste of what the campus life is like! Go Pack!
Teen Outreach Program site elects officers
The Teen Outreach Program at Chavis Community Center elected officers and held an Inauguration ceremony on November 24, 2015. The teens who were elected by their peers as officers will have the opportunity to exercise their leadership abilities at their program site. The teens participated in a debate and presented speeches prior to the election process. A total of 20 participants ran for positions and ultimately the offices of President, Treasurer, Secretary and Mr. and Ms. Chavis were elected. The teens gained public speaking, leadership and debating skills through their participation in the activities.

Saint Monica Teen Center to host "Holiday Hoopla" on December 18th
Excited about the holidays? Ready for school to let out for break? What better way to celebrate than with a little Holiday Hoopla! The Holiday Hoopla event that will consist of gift wrapping races, cookie decorating and a holiday movie. These events will be fun for all and provide a little extra excitement to get in the holiday spirit! Come spread a little holiday cheer and get a sweet treat as well! Teens gained both teambuilding and scorekeeping skills as they played on teams representing their Teen Outreach Program site and kept score at the latest Nitro Basketball Tournament.
Carolina Pines to host Nitro Basketball Tournament to benefit the Dan Dunn Scholarship Fund
This is the basketball tournament you've never seen before. Play begins with 15 minute round robin speed games to determine seeding for a single elimination tournament. Proceeds from the tournament will go to the Dan Dunn Scholarship Fund!
Tournament Dates:
Friday, December 18 - Ages 15-16
Saturday, December 19 - Ages 11-12
Sunday, December 20 - Ages 13-14
