Hummingbird

Hummingbird Morning with Cape Fear Bird Observatory (CFBO)

  Come experience an extraordinary close‑up look at Ruby‑throated Hummingbirds as the CFBO team demonstrates the fascinating process of hummingbird banding. During this hands‑on educational program, you’ll learn how researchers safely trap and handle hummingbirds, apply tiny identification bands, and collect important scientific data that supports long‑term conservation.
  You’ll have opportunities to ask questions about hummingbirds and get practical advice on feeder selection, landscaping, and other ways to support hummingbirds on your own property.
  This event will take place on August 8th at is a unique chance to witness each step of a specialized research technique, see hummingbirds up close, and deepen your appreciation for these remarkable birds. Join us on  Saturday, August 8th from 9am-12noon. Hummingbirds

Un-Frogettable

Airlie Art Exhibit: unFROGettable

  Now in its 14th year, Airlie Gardens' annual art exhibit returns with unFrogettable. The exhibit features ten oversized fiberglass frog sculptures uniquely decorated, painted, or otherwise adorned by a select group of artists. The frogs are on display throughout the grounds

Park Pop-Up - Long Leaf Park

  Join our environmental educators at Long Leaf Park on Friday, August 14th from 9am-1pm, for this free event!  The topic will be: Birding at the Lake. There will be educational materials on hand for this FREE, drop‑in style event!

Echo Farms

Did You Know…?
Work has officially begun on the five new clay tennis courts coming to Echo Farms Park! This expansion will significantly increase access for clay‑court players and help meet the growing community demand. Construction is underway now, and the courts are anticipated to be completed in approximately six months. Stay tuned-more updates will be shared as we get closer to opening day!
