New Years Day -  January 1

County Parks:
OPEN Normal Operating Hours

CLOSED: Airlie Gardens, Echo Farms Park & Parks Administrative Offices

   As we welcome the new year, we’re excited to share some incredible upcoming improvements that will enhance our facilities and services for the community. These include the addition of five new clay tennis courts at Echo Farms Park, resurfacing of Ogden Park tennis courts, the redesign of the Trails End Pier, and Phase 2 improvements for both Smith Creek and  Northern Regional Parks.

   The following projects were completed:
    ~ Demolition and reconstruction of the Smith
       Creek Park floating dock
    ~ Hanover Pines Nature Park 
    ~ Laney H.S. tennis court resurfacing 
    ~ Airlie Gardens completed its 12th year of
       art exhibits with Buzzworthy! 

   These enhancements and completed projects reflect our commitment to providing exceptional spaces and opportunities for everyone to enjoy. Here’s to a year of continued growth, connection, and community!

Bird Walk/Accessible Birding

Birding at Airlie

  Start the new year with one of our exciting birding adventures! Join us for our first Bird Walk of the year on January 8th or Accessible Bird Outing on January 9th! 

Bird Walk:
  Explore the gardens while searching for resident and migrating birds, and develop basic birding skills. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Register Here.

Accessible Bird Outing: 
  Enjoy a guided tram ride to some of the garden’s best birding hotspots! This program is perfect for birders of any experience level who may have limited mobility but can board and exit the tram. Register Here.

  Space is limited and pre-registration is required. Binoculars are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

New Hanover County Parks & Gardens strives to maintain and operate parks and facilities that enrich the lives of the community and promote an overall healthier lifestyle.
