Older Americans

Older Americans Month

   Every year, the Administration for Community Living (ACL) leads the nation’s observance of Older Americans Month (OAM) in May. The theme for 2024 is Powered by Connection, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being.      County parks are great places for people of all ages to enjoy outdoor activities and connect with nature. They offer a wide range of recreational opportunities, from walking, bike riding, tennis and pickleball.

Ogden

This month, the Spotlight is On... Ogden Park
   Ogden Park has amenities for visitors of all ages! There is a playground, 3 picnic shelters, a walking trail, baseball and soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, skate park, as well as a dog park and fitness station. With such a diverse range of amenities and recreational activities, Ogden Park is a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts, families, and individuals looking to enjoy nature and stay active.

Water_Stuff

Splashpad and Pool Opening
   Our splash pad and pool will be opening this month! Get ready to make a splash and cool off as we kick off the summer season with some refreshing fun.
   Let the little ones cool off in our splash pad area which will be open from May 1 through September 30th. (Please note that there will be times the splashpad will be closed due to the weather and maintenance.) 
   The Echo Farms pool will open the weekend of Memorial Day (Saturday, May 25th). Residents can purchase a day or season pass. Day passes are $2/child (17 & under) and $4/adult (18+). Season passes are available for $100/individual or $175/Family. We'll also have group fitness classes beginning in June. (We are currently working on scheduling.) The pool will close for the season on September 29th.

LittleEchos

Echo Farms Park Junior Clinics
   Looking for a way to keep the kids busy this summer? Echo Farms, in conjunction with the Greater Wilmington Tennis Association, will have 4-week clinics for youth starting Wednesday, June 12 through Wednesday, July 3rd. Little Echos, for ages 6-9, will run from 8:30-9:30am and Big Echos, for ages 10-14, will run from 9:30-10:30am. The cost to attend is $50 per child. Pre-registration is required.

   (This information is being shared early so that parents can plan ahead for the summer.)
