February is for Love. . . Especially for Bird Enthusiasts
February is a great time to get out and explore the world of birds. Whether you are a novice or experienced birder, we have something for you!
Great Backyard Bird Count
On Sunday, February 18th, you can take part in a global citizen science project initiated by The Cornell Lab of Ornithology, National Audubon Society, and Birds Canada to help scientists learn more about global bird populations before their annual migration. We will be going over how to use and record information in the eBird App and website as well as the Merlin ID App for identifying birds. We will then go on a bird hike and submit our data to the project! This program is geared towards adults or children 12 years of age or older. All children must be accompanied by an adult. The program will run from 9am-11:00am. Space is limited, and pre-registration is required. Register here: Great Backyard Bird Count
Bird Walk
Enjoy a stroll around the grounds without the crowds while we see what’s flying! While attending the bird walk, you will look for resident and migrating birds and learn basic birding skills! No experience is necessary and all are welcome. Binoculars are available on a first come first serve basis. Recommended for ages 12 and up. The program is held outdoors. This program will be held on February 14th from 8:00am-9:30am. Register here: Bird Walk
