Parks For Pollinators

Did you know?  Pollinators are essential to our ecosystem. Over 75% of the world's flowering plants and 35% of the world's crops rely on pollinators. It's so important to learn about them and protect them, and that's why Parks & Gardens is participating in the Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz this September.

What is a BioBlitz?  The Parks for Pollinators BioBlitz is an event where community members work with parks staff to create a snapshot of the variety of wildlife found in local parks.  The information gathered during the month will help us understand how we can better protect pollinators in our community.

Participants may join our team on the iNaturalist app and upload photos taken on their own throughout the month, and/or you can attend one of our organized BioBlitz events for an introduction to iNaturalist and to spend some time taking photos in the following parks:

Friday, September 15: 10am-12Noon
Airlie Gardens
Saturday, September 30:  10:30am-12Noon
Smith Creek Park
