Parks & Gardens Projects

New Hanover County Parks & Gardens is excited to be working on several new projects this fiscal year!  We'll be constructing a new park, adding and upgrading some park amenities, designing new park phases, and designing and constructing new multi-purpose trails!  Check out these upcoming projects and more at Parks.NHCgov.com/ParksProjects.

Hops & Talks

Airlie Gardens is hosting a three-week educational series just for adults!  The event takes place on Thursdays, Sept 2, 9 and 16 from 5:30-7:30pm and topics include:

  • Sept 2:  Pollinators & their Hosts - SOLD OUT
  • Sept 9:  Keeping Up with the Joneses (history of Airlie Gardens) - SOLD OUT
  • Sept 16:  Art in the Gardens

Participants must be at least 21 years of age and pre-registration is required at AirlieGardens.org.

Yoga in the Gardens

Airlie Gardens is welcoming Longwave Yoga back for a fall Yoga in the Gardens series! Join us each Wednesday (Sept 8th – Sept 22nd) from 6-7pm to enjoy the blissful surroundings of nature’s magic on the Oak Lawn!

Class Rate | $16 per class
Special Airlie Rate | $33 for entire series

Bee-ginner's Guide to Planting for Pollinators

Join our educators for an introduction to creating your own pollinator garden!  Make your landscape an oasis for butterflies, bees, and everything in between. We will explore our butterfly house and pollinator gardens to get an up close look at pollinating insects and some of their favorite native plants!  Pre-registration is required at AirlieGardens.org.

Tree Walk

Come enjoy a guided slow-paced walk through Airlie Gardens and learn all about the various tree species throughout the grounds! Highlights will include both native and introduced species and the history of the grounds and its plantings.  Pre-registration is required at AirlieGardens.org.
