Wilmington Tree Initiative

New Hanover County is excited to partner with the Wilmington Tree Initiative!  The initiative kicked off on September 24th with the goal of growing the urban forest and educating the public on the value of trees.  A short-term goal of the initiative is to plant 1739 trees by Fall 2021, and NHC Parks & Gardens is doing our part with more than 110 trees planted already this year. 

Partners will also offer educational programs and special events such as:

Echo Farms Park

Construction is almost complete, and we are looking forward to opening the new tennis clubhouse in early October!  Visit Parks.NHCgov.com or follow us on Facebook for updates.  

Adult Level 2.0-2.5 Tennis Clinic
There are still spots available in the October Adult Beginner Clinic at Echo Farms.  This clinic is for levels 2.0-2.5, and will focus on tennis fundamentals and match strategy.  The clinic is a series of four classes- Oct 7, 14, 21 & 28 from 10-11am, and costs just $40/person for the entire series.  Class size is limited, so register today at echofarmstennis@nhcgov.com or 910-620-2460.

Enchanted Airlie
Fall is here, and our staff is gearing up for Enchanted Airlie!  We will be taking extra precautions to keep our guests and staff safe, so things will look a little differently this year.  Enchanted Airlie will run Nov 27-29 and Dec 4-22 with four (1)-hour time slots each night beginning at 5:30pm, 6:30pm, 7:30pm and 8:30pm.  A regular carload ticket costs just $30, and includes parking and admission for all passengers in the vehicle.  XL van tickets are $55.  Airlie Member pre-sale starts Oct 15, and tickets go on sale to the public Oct 29.  More Information 

Museums for All Program
Airlie is proud to participate in Museums for ALL, a national program that encourages individuals of all backgrounds to visit museums regularly and build lifelong habits.  Through this program, families who receive food assistance can receive free admission to Airlie for their household (2 Adults & up to 8 children) by presenting a photo ID and EBT card (or show the EBT app on a phone) at the ticket desk during regular garden operating hours.  More Information
