 Spring is coming soon and it's time to schedule a picnic shelter for your birthday party, company outing, family reunion, church cookout or other social gathering. Did you know that you can reserve and pay for shelter reservations online? Our online shelter reservations system is available 24 hours a day/7 days a week, and you receive immediate confirmation of your reservation. New Hanover County has reservable shelters at:
- Hugh MacRae Park
- Northern Regional Park
- Ogden Park
- River Road Park
- Snows Cut Park
- Veterans Park
All other county shelters may be used on a first come, first served basis.
Volunteer Training Event
Are you interested in volunteering at Airlie Gardens? Throughout 2020, Airlie will host several training sessions geared toward new volunteers. On Thursday, March 26th from 9am-12pm, potential volunteers will learn about and experience a morning with the Dirty Dozen- Airlie's gardening and grounds volunteers. Big Bloomin' Orchid Day
Cape Fear Orchid Society will hold its annual Big Bloomin' Orchid Day at the Arboretum on Saturday, March 7th from 8:30am-1pm. The event will feature guest speakers, a raffle, and Q&A time with experienced orchid growers. Early registration is just $25 through March 4th, then goes up to $30.
