2020

Happy New Year!  2019 was a great year for New Hanover County Parks & Gardens!  Check out some of the highlights from the past year:

  • Kings Grant Park received a new picnic shelter and outdoor gym.
  • Airlie Gardens completed stormwater improvements to reduce the amount of pollution entering Airlie Gardens' lake and Bradley Creek.
  • Underground drainage systems were added to multi-purpose fields at Eaton Elementary School (fields 1, 3 & 4)  and Northern Regional Park (Red & Green fields).
  • Echo Farms clay tennis courts were resurfaced, and buildings were demolished to make way for a new tennis/pool clubhouse facility.  (Pool renovations will also be completed this year)
  • The Arboretum celebrated milestone anniversaries:
           -Ability Garden - 20 years
           -Arboretum - 30 years
-Extension Master Gardeners - 40 years
  • Airlie hosted its seventh annual art exhibit- HeART of the Gardens.

We hope that you and your families have a safe and happy new year, and we look forward to seeing what 2020 brings!
