Town Council And Employees Support National Volunteer Month and Staff Volunteer Day
April is National Volunteer Month, and each year the Town looks to celebrate by getting out and supporting those in our community. For Staff Volunteer Day this year, Town of Knightdale employees worked with the Raleigh Rescue Mission and one of their partners, Meals on Wheels. These organizations work with volunteers on Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas to deliver between 1,400-1,700 meals across Wake County, including Knightdale, Zebulon, and Wendell. Knightdale staff assisted with packaging meals for families in need, and the meals will be delivered to them on Good Friday.
Special thanks to all employees who came out to serve, as well as Town Councilors Stephen Morgan, Latatious Morris, Grady Bussey, and Mayor Jessica Day. Way to go, Knightdale!

Knightdale Participates In A Coming Home Flag Raising Ceremony
The Town of Knightdale was honored to be represented at a Coming Home Flag Raising Ceremony, marking the dedication of a new home for a Gold Star family. Mayor Pro Tem Steve Evans attended on behalf of the Town, as we proudly stood alongside partners and community leaders for this meaningful occasion.
This home was dedicated to the family of 1st Lieutenant Matthew Davis, honoring his service and sacrifice. The Town of Knightdale remains committed to supporting veterans and military families, and we are grateful to be part of moments that reflect that dedication.
Thank you to Operation: Coming Home, the Home Builders Association of Raleigh‑Wake County, Representative James Roberson, Knightdale Councilman Stephen Morgan, and honoree Liz Davis for their leadership and partnership in making this special day possible.
We are proud to stand with those who serve—and the families who sacrifice so much.
Town Employees Participate in Local Government Panel

Town employees had a great time talking to students at the Knightdale High School State and Local Government Panel. Assistant town manager, directors, and staff, along with county and state leaders, answered questions and educated students about their roles in local and state government.
Special thanks go to Chief Lawrence Capps, Assistant Town Manager Dustin Tripp, JP Lefever (Parks & Rec Director), Rachel Morris (Community Relations Director), Jason Brown (Development Services Director), and Ike Archer (Stormwater Program Manager) for their participation today. Thanks also to North Carolina State Representative James Roberson and Wake County Manager David Ellis for their participation in today's panel.
Latin American Festival A Huge Success

Knightdale has enjoyed collaborating with La Grande Radio each year for the Latin American Festival, and this year's event was nothing short of a grand success!
The Latin American Festival is a reflection of who Knightdale is as a community. We are diverse, welcoming, and full of life. Events like this bring us together, create understanding, and build lasting connections across cultures.
The event, hosted by La Grande Radio, included performances by Descarga Musical, Los Pink Cheese Green Goes, Viento y Sol, Grupo Exterminador, and others. Noted guests included Mayor Pro Tem Steve Evans and Congresswoman Deborah Ross.
We are grateful for our amazing vendors, performers, partners, staff, and volunteers who helped bring this celebration to life. Most importantly, thank you to our residents and visitors for showing up, showing love, and embracing the beauty of culture and connection.

KPD Takes A Swing At The Battle Of The Badges

|
This month, our officers stepped onto the field to represent the Knightdale Police Department and Knightdale Fire Department in the Battle of the Badges softball tournament. It was a great day of competition, but the best part was the cause. All proceeds from the event went to Make-A-Wish Eastern North Carolina. This organization helps grant life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
We are proud to support our community and such a meaningful organization. Thank you to everyone who came out to cheer our team on!
Knightdale Stormwater Team Completes Improvement Project Along Forest Drive
The Town of Knightdale recently completed a stormwater improvement project along Forest Drive to address long-standing drainage issues. These problems existed before modern stormwater regulations and had been causing severe erosion and sediment buildup in the stream that runs through the Maplewood Subdivision.
Crews installed new piping along with a feature called a plunge pool, a system that helps slow down fast-moving stormwater and allows sediment like dirt and debris to settle out before the water continues downstream. By reducing the speed and force of the water, the project helps protect the stream banks and improve overall water quality.
This is important to the Town because the improvements will:
-
Reduce erosion: Slows down water to prevent damage to stream banks and surrounding property
-
Improve water quality: Allows sediment and debris to settle out before entering the stream
-
Protect infrastructure: Helps prevent damage to pipes and nearby drainage systems
Town staff will continue to monitor the area to ensure the system works properly. This includes checking for shifting rocks, erosion around the edges, or wear over time.
These improvements are part of the Town’s ongoing efforts to manage stormwater more effectively and protect local waterways for residents.
