Winter Storm Gianna Update

Due to the current winter storm and hazardous road conditions throughout the area, the Town of Knightdale facilities will be closed tomorrow to ensure the safety of residents, visitors, and staff.

Here are key items you need to know.

CLOSINGS

• All town facilities will be closed on Monday, February 2nd. All services will still be provided online and via phone during this time. 
• The Town Work Session has also been cancelled. 
• All Parks & Recreation programs/games are cancelled.

FINANCE

• City of Raleigh utility bills can be paid online or by calling (888) 905-3169. 

PARKING

• All Knightdale residents are asked to avoid street parking during inclement weather to allow Public Works equipment to operate without delays. 
  
  

PUBLIC SAFETY

• The health and safety of our first responders and emergency crews are important. For situations that do not pose an immediate threat, please call the non-emergency number at (919) 829-1911. In the event of an emergency, call 911.
• Residents are strongly encouraged to avoid travel during icy conditions. If travel is unavoidable, please use extreme caution.

Knightdale Town staff and public safety partners are actively monitoring conditions and will share updates as needed.

ROAD CLOSURE - HODGE ROAD

Due to hazardous winter weather conditions, NCDOT has closed Hodge Road in both directions from Jenny Circle to Old Faison Road. This closure is in place to ensure public safety and allow road crews and first responders to work effectively.

Drivers are encouraged to:

• Refrain from traveling unless absolutely necessary
• Use alternate routes when possible
• Allow extra travel time
• Exercise caution on all roads due to ongoing icy conditions

Thin Ice Alert: Stay Safe Around Frozen Ponds & Lakes

A thin layer of ice has formed on some of our ponds and lakes. While it may look solid, looks can be deceiving. Thin ice is deadly as it cannot support the weight of a person or a pet.

  Talk to your children and make sure they understand that frozen bodies of water are off-limits.

 Keep pets on a leash and avoid getting too close.

It only takes a second for a scenic walk to turn into a life-threatening emergency. Admire the view from the shore, but stay on solid ground.

White Flag Information

A White Flag alert is issued when the forecast calls for 35 degrees Fahrenheit or below, with wind chill, or for other severe weather that poses a danger to health and safety. 

When White Flag nights are declared, the following shelters will open for overnight stays:

Single men and couples without children:
Church of the Good Shepherd, 121 Hillsborough St., Raleigh

Single women:
First Baptist Church, 99 N. Salisbury St., Raleigh

Families with children:
Salvation Army of Wake County, 1863 Capital Blvd., Raleigh

Survivors of domestic violence:
