Knightdale residents enjoyed a beautiful day for the annual Fourth on First Avenue celebration. The weather was perfect, and everyone seemed to have festive spirits at Knightdale Station Park.
The day began with a colorful bike parade held concurrently with the opening and ribbon cutting of the new playground at Knightdale Station Park. DJ Highrise played all the classics and latest hits, while attendees enjoyed the Splash Pad, over 20 inflatables, the Touch-a-Truck, activity, waterslides, rock wall climbing, food trucks, cooling stations and live entertainment from the Liquid Pleasure Band.
It was a great day to spend time in the community, and we want to thank everyone who came out to celebrate with us. If you missed it, click the video below to see the recap!

Finance Department Receives Distinguished Budget Award

The Town has been awarded, for the first time, the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award!
This award acknowledges and recognizes the government for preparing a budget document of the VERY HIGHEST QUALITY that reflect both guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on State and Local Budgeting and the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) best practices on budgeting. To earn this recognition, the budget document must meet the program criteria and excel as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communication tool.
We are so excited about this award because it reflects our dedication to organizational excellence, one of the five pillars of our Strategic Plan. Our Finance Department truly is TOP NOTCH!

The Knightdale Police Department sponsored its Camp P.R.I.D.E. program once again this summer. The camp provided an exciting and educational experience for young campers as they engaged and interacted with the dedicated officers of the Knightdale PD. During the camp, campers explored what it means to have perseverance, respect, integrity, determination and excellence (PRIDE).
Camp P.R.I.D.E offered a wide range of exciting activities and engaging speakers each day. Activities included sports play, internet safety seminars, experience with the "Fatal Vision" Goggles, spending time with Support Dog Winston, crafts projects, photos with Star Wars characters, and time with wild animals with Dan the Animal Man.
The program aims to create lasting memories, foster personal growth, and build positive relationships between campers and the police. This year's group of students had a ball, and we can't wait to do it again next year!

New Knightdale Station Park Playground Is Officially Open
As a part of our Fourth on First Activities, Knightdale Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Programs hosted a ribbon-cutting event for the new playground located at Knightdale Station Park. Attendees included Mayor Jessica Day, members of the Town Council, and a host of Knightdale residents and families.
The new park will showcase a completely fresh look for the playground. Amenities include shade structures over benches, poured-in-place flooring paths for safe accessibility, farm animal play fixtures, newly planted trees, and so much more. Two original swings retained from the previous park will be repainted but remain in their original places to preserve historical aspects of the park.
We are so excited about the updated playground, and we hope you and your family will enjoy it for years to come!
