The Town of Knightdale proudly celebrated the successful graduation of its inaugural cohort of the Knightdale Leaders Academy (KLA). The Academy’s mission is to equip teens with practical life skills and civic awareness to prepare them to be confident, responsible leaders in their communities.
Throughout the program, participants explored the concept of leadership coaching and its impact, gained a behind-the-scenes look at public service and the role of elected officials, and developed essential skills including resume writing, interviewing, financial literacy, communication, and problem-solving. They also learned about vehicle and traffic safety and had professional headshots taken.
This year’s presenters included Knightdale Mayor Jessica Day, Executive Coach Gejuan Sweat Batson, Human Resources Manager Tabitha Codrington, Financial Entrepreneur Ryan Ray, Communications and Marketing Manager Terrence Dove, Sergeant Chris Burke of the Knightdale Police Department, and professional photographer Tamaria Moore of Create Moore.
We are incredibly proud of these outstanding young leaders and look forward to welcoming the next class of Knightdale Leaders Academy participants!

Culture Abounds At The Knightdale African American Festival
The Town of Knightdale hosted its third annual African American Festival in honor of Juneteenth on Saturday, June 14, from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm.
Knightdale Station Park was filled with energy, music, and joy on Saturday as more than 4,000 people gathered to celebrate the annual African American Festival. With beautiful weather, vibrant cultural displays, and an undeniable sense of community, this year’s event was one to remember.
The festival featured a wide variety of local vendors and community organizations. Children laughed and played in while adults grooved to the rhythm of Jus Once Band, Spade Music Group, Stacey Mae Music, 5Starr, ChoiceFM’s The D.O.C, spoken word artist Bettina Pope and line dancing instructor Jacque Allen with Z-Fitness. Families, neighbors, and friends of all ages came together to enjoy a day filled with dancing, a hair show, storytelling, and celebrating African American culture and heritage.
The success of the African American Festival is a testament to the Town of Knightdale’s commitment to inclusivity, cultural expression, and building community traditions that last. We hope to see you at next year's event!

Members of the Knightdale Fire Department and Knightdale Police Department participated in the Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run, a 40-year-old tradition that raises public awareness and fundraising for the Special Olympics. Our public safety volunteers, or "Guardians," received the torch, known as the "Flame of Hope," from the Wake County Sheriff's Office and ran approximately 3.9 miles down Knightdale Boulevard.
We're grateful for our public safety participants, and we thank them for their time and dedication to this cause!

Amenities include shade structures over benches, poured-in-place flooring paths for safe accessibility, farm animal play fixtures, newly planted trees, and so much more. Two original swings retained from the previous park will be repainted but remain in their original places to preserve historical aspects of the park.
The ribbon cutting event will begin at approximately 9:30 am on July 4th at Knightdale Station Park, so bring the entire family out to enjoy Knightdale's newest recreation facility!
