The recent Fire Awards and Achievements Ceremony was a night of pride, honor, and celebration, as we gathered to recognize the extraordinary contributions and achievements of our firefighters. This year, the ceremony was especially momentous, with many new recognitions introduced, reflecting the department’s commitment to excellence and service.
Promotions were awarded to several deserving members who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, further strengthening the department’s ability to serve the community. Congratulations to Captain Adam Ellis, Captain Brandon Lindsey, Lieutenant Anthony Parrinello, Lieutenant Dale Kernodle, and Lieutenant Seth Hall on their respective promotions.
Additionally, special recognition was given to all the members who deployed to western North Carolina during Hurricane Helene, showcasing their bravery and expertise in the face of the disaster. Over the course of 26 days, the department provided 16 Swiftwater, Firefighting and Peer support staff to assist those in need.
The evening’s pinnacle was the announcement of the 2024 Todd A. Blanchard Firefighter of the Year award, which went to Captain Mark Guy. His unwavering dedication, courage, and exemplary service have set a standard of excellence within the department.
