Arts & Education Festival
|
|
It is Back to School Season, which means pens, pencils, crayons and the like are on top of everyone's shopping list. Knightdale also recognizes the importance of education and believes that the tools to succeed should be available for everyone. That is the primary focus of Knightdale's Arts and Education Festival that took place on Saturday, August 17th.
With the help of our generous sponsors, we were able to give away over 400 bookbags filled with school supplies, 70 free haircuts by Cutz by Quick, and 20 free braided hairstyles by A's 4 Kids. The ability and opportunity to connect Knightdale residents with resources that can help them succeed at any level of education is invaluable.

Providing places for citizens to stay active and healthy is an important part of the Knightdale Comprehensive plan and the Knightdale Parks and Recreation Department is committed to seeing that plan come to life. That is why we are thrilled to announce that the Mingo Creek Greenway extension and dog park are now open! |

Officer Ryan Andrew Hayworth was killed in the line of duty on October 17, 2021. At just 23-years-old, Ryan had already made a positive impact on so many lives. His sense of duty, faith, and service to others has been recounted time and time again by those who knew him best. Though his remarkable life was cut short, Ryan leaves behind an inspiring and enduring legacy of service. It is his legacy we celebrate and not his sacrifice. The Live Like Ryan (LLR) Memorial 5K is one of many ways the Town of Knightdale has chosen to recognize Ryan’s service to his community, his country, and his fellow man. The annual event is held on the weekend around the anniversary of Ryan’s death. Our LLR Memorial 5k is an opportunity for participants to symbolically follow in Ryan’s footsteps and to ensure that his memory and contributions are never forgotten. In doing so, we hope to remind the world around us to embody the best of the human spirit – to Live Like Ryan. Registration and event proceeds will be donated to the Live Like Ryan Foundation, a charitable organization that bears his name and provides funding assistance for service-minded youth. Sign up today and help us keep Ryan’s legacy alive!

Every year nearly a quarter of a million people lose their lives to drowning, and almost 82, 000 of them are children aged 1 to 14 years. Drowning is sudden, abrupt, and shocking, with people often not realizing it's happening until it's too late. So much can happen in a single moment. But with the right awareness and actions, what happens in those seconds can also be changed - for the better. Please take time to read the attached flyers, and help us raise awareness on the impacts of drowning and how it can be prevented by sharing this with your #KnightdaleKneighbors and friends.
