The Veterans Memorial in Knightdale Station Park was filled with guests on May 27th during Knightdale's annual Memorial Day celebration. This event held every year is a chance to honor and respect the members of the Knightdale community who served in any branch of the military. The names of these brave community members were added to the memorials and Mayor Jessica Day along with this year’s keynote speaker Lieutenant General Robert Ashley, Jr. (Retired), of Wake Forest gave remarks. It is an honor and privilege for Knightdale to be the home of so many brave men and women and this event is just one way to show our appreciation to them and their families. Here in Knightdale, we are committed to promoting green spaces for all our residents to enjoy. We would like to recognize a community member who has significantly contributed to this goal. Mason Privette, a member of Troop 524, recently completed his Eagle Scout Project, which involved planning, coordinating, and building raised garden beds at Harper Park.
The Two Green Thumbs Garden Club assisted in planting a variety of herbs and flowers, enriching the garden with diverse scents, textures, and appearances to complete the Sensory Garden.
Thank you to Mason, members of Troop 524, and the Two Green Thumbs Garden Club for creating the beautiful Sensory Garden at Harper Park!

Education is closing in on the Knightdale area and we could not be more excited. Knightdale representatives from the Police Department, Fire Department, and Community Relations Department along with Knightdale Mayor Jessica Day and Mayor Pro Tem Latatious Morris had the opportunity to celebrate the Grand Opening of the brand-new Wake Tech Campus.
Located just seven minutes from Knightdale Station Park, this new campus will bring valuable education and learning opportunities to our community. Wake Tech's newest site offers university transfer degrees and specialized programs in engineering, public safety, and aviation. Future programs will include biopharmaceutical technology, additive manufacturing, mechatronics, robotics, and automation. The campus is set to be bustling with students in August of this year.
We look forward to having a Wake Tech campus so close to home and are thrilled about the educational opportunities it will provide for everyone in Knightdale.

The Town of Knightdale Fire Department has recently received two brand-new Pierce Enforcer engines. These engines are smaller than the previous ones, and as Knightdale transforms into a more urban community, these smaller vehicles will provide more effective and efficient maneuverability. They carry 750 gallons of water with a 1500 GPM pump. The new engines are also equipped with Idle Reduction Technology, which offers many benefits, including fuel savings and reductions in pollution, greenhouse gas emissions, noise, and engine wear.
These new engines replace old ones, allowing the department to have dedicated reserve units. They will be equipped with all the firefighting, EMS, and rescue equipment needed for emergencies. They are a great example of the town's commitment to sustaining quality service as the landscape of Knightdale continues to change.
If you see these new engines on the road, please wave to our firefighters! We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone at the Knightdale Fire Department for their unwavering service and commitment to keeping us all safe.
