CCS Celebrates Summer Graduates
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Applause echoed through the auditorium at Jack Britt High School on Thursday morning as Cumberland County Schools (CCS) celebrated its summer graduates. More than 60 students from high schools across the district graduated, celebrating the culmination of years of hard work, perseverance and resilience.
Special guest speaker Danita Johnson, President of Business Operations for D.C. United and a graduate of Douglas Byrd High School, delivered an inspiring message, encouraging students to lead with purpose and chase their dreams with confidence.
The summer ceremony closes out a remarkable graduation season for CCS. Earlier this year, nearly 3,700 students graduated as members of the Class of 2025, a group that has truly left its mark. Collectively, they:
-
Earned more than $39 million in scholarships, with that total still climbing
-
Completed thousands of college credit hours
-
Contributed over 14,000 hours of community service
-
Earned hundreds of industry-recognized credentials, ACT WorkKeys certifications and associate degrees
-
Are headed to community colleges, HBCUs, Ivy League schools and top-tier universities across the country
-
Are also entering the military or joining the workforce, ready to lead, serve and make a difference
