We Are CCS: Class of 2024's Standout Seniors Tell Their Inspiring Stories
Countdown to Graduation 2024: CCS Students are Ready for a Career, College, and Life!
Fayetteville, NC – As Cumberland County Schools (CCS) prepares for the graduation season, the district is proud to launch its annual Standout Seniors Campaign with this year's theme, "We Are CCS: Ready for a Career, College, and Life!" This theme particularly resonates with the Class of 2024, a cohort defined by their resilience and adaptability, having started their high school journey amidst the unprecedented challenges of COVID-19, with much of their freshman year conducted virtually.
Starting on Tuesday, May 14, at 7 a.m., CCS will embark on a daily celebration of its Standout Seniors from across the district’s high schools. Each morning leading up to graduation, CCS will unveil a special feature spotlighting these remarkable students. These daily highlights will include video recaps and detailed narratives that showcase the achievements and spirit of each senior class.
This year, the stories of these exceptional young leaders have been brought to life by members of the Student Government Association at each school. From Student Body Presidents to Senior Class Presidents and other elected officers, these student leaders have taken the forefront in narrating the incredible journeys of their classes, emphasizing the resilience, creativity and academic excellence that define the Class of 2024.
"These Standout Seniors embody the spirit and aspirations of their entire classes, reflecting the values and educational excellence of Cumberland County Schools," said CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr. "Since the campaign's inception in 2019, it has been a wonderful tradition to highlight the hard work and success of our students as we approach graduation."
The Class of 2024 has demonstrated remarkable strength, beginning their high school experience during a global pandemic. This year’s seniors are not just graduating; they are moving forward with impressive credentials. Many have already earned associate degrees or amassed dozens of college credits. Their post-graduation paths are as diverse as they are ambitious, spanning Ivy League schools, universities in the UNC system, community colleges, military academies, various branches of the military and direct entries into the workforce with valuable credentials.
