Upcoming May 2 Kindergarten Orientation Night
It's Kindergarten Showcase 2024 and the district's opportunity to welcome incoming kindergarten students, The Class of 2037, and their families. As part of the Showcase, the second of two district-wide Kindergarten Orientation Nights will take place on Thursday, May 2, between 5-7 p.m. At this time, families will get the opportunity to complete registration forms, meet teachers, tour classrooms and schools and much more. The orientation date for each school as well as additional information is available on the CCS website.
Cumberland Family Academy (CFA): "CCS/Brainfuse Tutoring"
CCS families are encouraged to participate in a session dedicated to Brainfuse tutoring in Cumberland County Schools. It will be streamed live on the district’s Facebook page on Thursday, May 2 at 6 p.m. This Cumberland Family Academy (CFA) session, titled "CCS/Brainfuse Tutoring," will feature Dr. Lindsay Whitley, the associate superintendent for CCS' Communications and Community Engagement, alongside a representative from Brainfuse Tutoring.
Students from grades K-12 have 24/7 access to live tutoring services to provide support with daily classroom instruction. The all-in-one suite of tutoring services is designed for a wide range of academic needs, whether it is tackling a tough homework problem, mastering a particular topic, or writing a paper. Students can access live, on-demand academic help, and state-aligned skills-building lessons from expert tutors. Tutors and students communicate in real-time through a chat feature in an online classroom by typing, drawing, and marking up lessons and web content.

Prime Time Summer Program
Parents in CCS can get their children ready for an unforgettable summer with Cumberland County Schools' Prime Time! The Prime Time Summer Program will run from June 3 until August 2 and feature themed weeks packed with activities, including swimming and weekly field trips. The Vanstory Hills Elementary "K-Kids Club," sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Cape Fear, recently held a four-day school-wide food drive. They collected 1,250 canned goods and non-perishable food items to help support the Great Food Bank of Southeastern North Carolina.
C. Wayne Collier Elementary School Assistant Principal Eric Bradley has taken on a significant role in the community. He was recently sworn in as a commissioner of the City of Fayetteville Human Resource Commission Department. "This is a tremendous honor and a testament to Eric's dedication not only to our school but also to the betterment of our city," said Larissa Perkins, the principal at C. Wayne Collier Elementary School. "His commitment to serving others and making positive changes in our community shines through in everything he does."

Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 CCS' World Language Karaoke Competition! The department, which recently held a karaoke competition to celebrate National Foreign Language Week, created this opportunity for students to use their language skills to entertain others. This year, they received videos from students registered in Chinese, French and Spanish classes. More than 700 students, teachers and staff voted in order to select the winners. The 2024 CCS' World Language Karaoke Competition Winners are as follows: Middle School Level - Ashna Upreti & Mila Vounuv (John Griffin Middle School/Language Teacher: Iris Arce Ramos); High School Level 1: Josephine Agyemang (Cumberland Academy 6-12/Language Teacher: Liliana Webb); and High School Level 2: Ala Fullwood (E. E. Smith High School/Language Teacher: Gina Saavedra).
