Cumberland Academy (K-5) is in its inaugural year of the virtual school's Agriculture Club and on February 23, members of the Club met at the Kiwanis Recreation Center to begin their seed starters.
Each student was able to choose a vegetable, an herb and a pollinator to begin growing. Students had the opportunity to start those seeds.
During the next few months, they will take care of their plants, transfer them to a larger grow bag and learn about recipes they can prepare that incorporate their chosen plants.
The Agriculture Club gives students the opportunity to see how academic content intertwines with real-world hands-on skills.
Students at Cross Creek Early College High School recently participated in the NASA TechRise Student Challenge.
