March 7 Showing of "The Crux"
CCS and the Fayetteville Police Department 'are teaming up' for another showing of the film "The Crux: Educating Kids About Gun Violence 2," which explores teens making life choices and the consequences that can follow. There will be audience discussion and the film shows on Thursday, March 7 at Douglas Byrd High School from 6:00 - 7:30 p.m. This event is intended for students in the 6th-12th grades and their parents. John Griffin Middle School Science Olympiad Team recently competed in the 2024 North Carolina Science Olympiad Regional Tournament at Fayetteville Technical Community College and was announced as the First-Place Division B Overall Winners. The Team will go on to compete at the state level.
Recently, members of the Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., from Spring Lake, NC, led the members of South View High School's Ambush Club male mentor group in a special session that focused on customs and courtesies. The fraternity members taught the young men how to properly shake a person's hand, the importance of eye contact when having a conversation and many more necessary social skills.

During intramural sports for students with disabilities, CCS Exceptional Children's department recently partnered with the Knights of Columbus to sponsor a one-day Free-Throw Contest. Secondary students, who receive services under the category of AU and/or IDMI, got the chance to 'win big!' A champion from each class received a special medal for making the most free throws and a Spirit Award was given to a second student who displayed the most amount of charisma and spirit throughout the competition.
