Support for Public Education Leads Governor to E.E. Smith High School's Doorstep
Governor Roy Cooper plans to make a stop in Cumberland County Schools (CCS) to showcase all that public schools have to offer
WHAT: Governor Roy Cooper's "The Year of Public Schools" Education Tour at E.E. Smith High School (EESHS)
WHEN: Tuesday, February 27, 2024 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
WHERE: E.E. Smith High School 1800 Seabrook Road Fayetteville, NC 28301
*NOTE: Reserved parking for the Media will be located directly in front of the school along Seabrook Road.
WHY: To talk with teachers, students, local and state education leaders and elected officials about the remarkable work happening in the North Carolina Public Schools during classroom visits and a press conference.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Numerous B-roll and interview opportunities are available.
At 10:00 a.m.
The Governor will tour the following classrooms:

A Spanish II Class - The teacher will be coaching her students through writing a draft of a chapter that will appear in their book titled "Mi Rutina Diaria" (My Daily Life).

An Air Force JROTC Class - A senior cadet will lead meaningful discussion and activities with his/her fellow cadets that analyzes the importance of having good character.

A Drones II Class - The instructor will be test-prepping his students using simulators and drones as they are studying to become FAA Drone Pilots.
At 10:30/10:45 a.m.
The Governor's school tour will conclude with special remarks in the school's Media Center. CCS Superintendent Dr. Marvin Connelly, Jr., EESHS Principal Larry Parker, EESHS Parent Monique McLeod and Governor Cooper will comment about remarkable happenings at the high school and in public education throughout North Carolina.
