Through the 2023-2024 STARward STEM program, a class of kindergarteners at William H. Owen Elementary School got the chance to ZOOM with the experts! The students recently interviewed RTI Software Applications Programmer Marshall Hattersley to learn more about video game design. They used what they learned from Hattersley to prepare for building their own board games. The STARward STEM program believes in creating S.T.A.R. moments - "Something They'll Always Remember." According to the program, teachers can do this by connecting students with experts that can help relate what they are learning to real-life situations.

On December 9, members of the Cross Creek Early College High School (CCECHS) Glee Club participated in their Annual Stocking Drive by delivering the goodies to the residents of Heritage Place senior living facility while 'bringing holiday cheer' through song! The students and staff at CCECHS donated over 1,400 items, which were stuffed into 200 stockings. The Glee Club also decorated and delivered hand-written holiday cards to the residents. During their visit to Heritage Place, the Glee Club sang carols and spent time interacting with the residents to help brighten their holidays! According to Glee Club Adviser Kevin McGinnis, the residents thoroughly enjoyed their visitors. He overheard one resident say that the Glee Club's holiday stocking would possibly be the only gift he receives.
