Fayetteville, NC – According to the National Weather Service, inclement weather is forecasted to move into the Cumberland County region tomorrow, including possible heavy rainfall, sustained winds, and potentially dangerous wind gusts. Out of an abundance of caution and with the safety of our students, employees, and families in mind, Cumberland County Schools (CCS) will release students and staff at all schools and district offices two hours early on Tuesday, January 9, 2024.
Students enrolled in classes at Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College and College Connections should contact their instructors for additional guidance.
The district's Prime Time Before & After School Program will remain open on Tuesday, two hours after the release time at each school site. All athletic events and after-school activities scheduled for Tuesday will be canceled or rescheduled. The status of the Cumberland County Board of Education meeting scheduled for tomorrow will be shared at a later time.
CCS' inclement weather plan focuses on the safety of students and staff. In the event there is a need to transition to remote learning, students have been advised to take their devices home today.
