On Nov. 6, students at Stedman Primary School began collecting canned and boxed foods to support Cokesbury United Methodist Church's community food bank. Located in Stedman, the church's food bank serves over 300 families per week from the Cumberland and Sampson County school districts. The class of Pre-K Exceptional Children's Teacher Kayla Jernigan sponsored the school-wide food drive, which included collecting donated items throughout the school each day and helping transport them to the cafeteria for sorting and counting. At the end of their two-week food drive, Stedman Primary donated over 2,100 canned and boxed items to Cokesbury Church's food bank, which helped replenish their dangerously low stock right before the Thanksgiving holiday.
