Cumberland County Schools (CCS)

Student Holiday/Staff Telework Day, Student Holiday/Teacher Workday
On Monday, October 23, schools following the Traditional calendar along with Cross Creek Early College High School, Cumberland International Early College High School and Cumberland Polytechnic High School will be closed in observance of a Student Holiday/Staff Telework Day. Central Services office buildings will be closed. Prime Time will be open at select locations.

On Tuesday, October 24, the district will observe a Student Holiday/Teacher Workday.

Douglas Byrd Attendance Area to Host Fifth Committed CommUNITY Chat 

The families of CCS students and the public at-large are encouraged to join Dr. Connelly during his next Committed CommUNITY Chat on Monday, October 30 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the gymnasium at W.H. Owen Elementary School. The Superintendent wants to engage with the Chat attendees in open dialogue about the future of the district. 

The sixth stop on 'his tour' is in the Gray's Creek Attendance Area at Gray's Creek High School on Monday, November 6 from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the school's auditorium. Visit the CCS Website to see the full schedule with upcoming Chat locations.

Happenings Across CCS

About 70 families and over 100 visitors converged on Glendale Acres Elementary School from 8:00 - 8:45 a.m. on September 27 to celebrate Donuts for Grownups! The parent engagement event gave families some precious time to enjoy a delicious Krispy Kreme doughnut with their child or grandchild in their learning environment at the elementary school.

CCS' Family and Community Engagement Liaison, Dadma Consalvi, was recently selected as the representative for Cumberland County on the Center for Safer Schools (CFSS) Parent Engagement Committee. Consalvi joins a dedicated team that is focused on addressing safety challenges within the K-12 education system that spans both public and charter schools. As part of their commitment to enhance school safety, CFSS has launched the Parent Engagement Committee to empower parents and amplify their voices to ensure their child's safety at school.

CCS' Military Family and Youth Liaisons Zakira Rich and Reginald Fields recently attended the North Carolina Defense Summit (NCDS) 2023, which took place in Raleigh, NC. Through the sharing of state and national best practices, NCDS works to build and strengthen the military community and defense industry.
