Pine Forest High School's Academy of Information & Technology (AOIT) is proud to recognize Alex Van Wy for his credentials earned in both Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator 2021. As the South View High School's eSport Team closes its inaugural year, the team was invited to tour the University of North Carolina Greensboro's Scholastic Esports Alliance (UNCG SEA) Arena in May. The UNCG SEA provides all North Carolina public high schools an opportunity to form an eSports program — combining organized team competitions across the state with a STEM-focused curriculum. During the tour, the team received an overview and capabilities on how each of the 48 gaming computers were set up for the various games that are used for eSports tournaments. The arena provides UNCG students with a cutting-edge learning environment in the field of gaming. Esports is so intertwined with technology, students are now given many opportunities to develop skills that are in high demand in today’s technology-driven industries, both within and beyond the eSports industry. Some schools have begun offering scholarships to students to compete on their collegiate eSports team, just like traditional athletic programs have done for decades.
