Upcoming Board Committee Meetings
The Auxiliary Services, Budget/Finance, Curriculum, Student Support Services Policy and Personnel Committees of the Cumberland County Board of Education will hold meetings beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 1. The meetings will be open to the public via live-streaming available at https://www.youtube.com/user/CumberlandCoSch, and there will also be capacity-limited seating available to members of the public. Documents, attachments, and presentations to be considered or received by the Board of Education will be available for review by the public at the BoardDocs site, which may be accessed through a link appearing on the Cumberland County Schools homepage under BOARD OF EDUCATION (BOE), at www.ccs.k12.nc.us. As these are Committee Meetings of the Board, there will be no public comment period, but public comments will again be shared at the Board's next regular meeting on June 13, 2023. The Committee meetings will be held in the auditorium at the Educational Resource Center (ERC), located at 396 Elementary Drive in Fayetteville, NC 28301.
CCS' 2023 Graduation Ceremonies Media Event
Members of the Media are being invited to cover Cumberland County Schools' 2023 Graduation Season on Monday, June 5 at 8:00 a.m. in the Cumberland County Crown Coliseum.

Interested members of the Media are asked to arrive @ 7:30 a.m. for E.E. Smith High School's Graduation Ceremony.

Media w/credentials will enter the Crown through the West VIP entrance. A rep from CCS Communications will escort them to the Coliseum floor (behind the blue hockey dashers) to photograph or videotape the EESHS' graduation ceremony, which starts promptly at 8:00 a.m.

During the ceremony, any members of the Media who are interested in doing LIVE shots or recording LOOK-LIVE shots can be escorted by a Communications rep to one of the approved Secondary Media Areas.

Summer Meals 2023
Summer Meals are back! Starting Monday, June 5 through Thursday, July 27, kids ages 18 and under can enjoy a lunch at no cost. No sign up is needed, families are encouraged to stop by designated locations Monday - Thursday. The meals must be eaten on site. Cumberland County Schools' 2023 Graduations - Day 1
Four State Leaders Visit CCS During 'Bring A Legislator to School Day'
Mary McArthur Elementary School Fifth-grade Deaf and Hard of Hearing students performed the National Anthem in sign language with Miss Fayetteville at the opening game for the Fayetteville Chutes (formerly the Swampdogs) on May 23. MMES Principal Lisa Gillespie said the students did an excellent job!
Kimberly Tamsett, the principal intern at Manchester Elementary School, recently participated in Graduate Education Day in Raleigh. She had the honor of being selected by Fayetteville State University’s College of Education to represent the Master of Administration program during the General Assembly's May 23 gathering. Tamsett said that during her meetings with representatives and senators, she shared her concerns about literacy proficiency in North Carolina and the importance of early intervention by prioritizing Pre-K programs.
Recently students at Beaver Dam Elementary School who made their RC goal all four nine weeks got to make human icecream sundaes out of Principal Jeanna Daniels and Winifred Remer, the school's media specialist, while their schoolmates looked on in amusement. According to Remer, the students even added sprinkles and gummy bears!
