 As preparations continue for America's 250th anniversary celebrations, the Dare A250 Committee is inviting students across Dare County to take part in a series of engaging academic and creative initiatives. From an essay award contest to a professionally judged student art exhibit, these opportunities are designed to celebrate local history, highlight student talent and support innovative learning in the lead-up to the Dare A250 Faire on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
Dare A250 Essay Award Contest Open to All Dare County Students
The Dare A250 Committee invites all Dare County students to explore and share their insights on America’s 250th anniversary and the county’s unique role in our nation’s history through their Dare A250 Essay Award. Award winners will be presented during the Dare A250 Faire that will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026.
This contest encourages students to research, reflect, and creatively express their understanding of Dare County’s contributions and America’s shared heritage. Through the contest, local students will have the opportunity to connect their writing to broader educational initiatives, such as exploring significant local sites, historic events, and influential figures that have shaped both the county and the country. Essays may focus on the themes of freedom, community, innovation, and the diverse narratives that define American history.

Dare A250 Student Art Exhibit to Showcase Emerging Creative Talent with Professional Judging and Awards
The A250 Student Art Exhibit that will be featured at the Dare A250 Faire on Saturday, April 18, 2026 offers a vibrant celebration of student talent and a chance for the community to support emerging artists.
All students in Dare County are encouraged to submit their art for consideration for this event. A panel of invited art professionals from Dare Arts will conduct formal judging of the exhibited works.
