Dare County, in partnership with Current TV, has launched a new video highlighting the America 250 (A250) events and activities that are scheduled to take place throughout Dare County in celebration of our nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026. As the “Land of Beginnings,” Dare County plays a unique role in America’s story, and this video introduces how the community will honor its history, celebrate its present and inspire future generations through a yearlong series of commemorative programs, events and educational initiatives.
Available on Dare County’s YouTube channel, the video features representatives from several key organizations and agencies who outline their roles in the upcoming A250 celebrations. Dare County shares details on multiple public outreach initiatives, including the dedicated A250 website, DareA250.org, as well as a monthly A250 newsletter and various opportunities for public participation. The Outer Banks History Center introduces the A250 Passport Program, which is designed to encourage residents and visitors to explore local museums, historic sites and landmarks while learning the stories of people and places that have shaped the region.
The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau highlights signature events, community celebrations and volunteer opportunities that are planned to take place throughout 2026, and Dare County Schools discusses upcoming educational programming aimed at connecting students with both national history and Dare County’s local heritage. Together, these efforts reflect a countywide commitment to making America's 250th anniversary a meaningful, inclusive and memorable celebration for the entire community.
