October Featured Title: "Killers of the Flower Moon"
In "Killers of the Flower Moon," David Grann revisits a shocking series of crimes in which dozens of people were murdered in cold blood. Based on years of research and startling new evidence, the book is a masterpiece of narrative nonfiction, as each step in the investigation reveals a series of sinister secrets and reversals. More than that, it is a searing indictment of the callousness and prejudice toward American Indians that allowed the murderers to operate with impunity for so long. "Killers of the Flower Moon" is utterly compelling but also emotionally devastating.
Read it before you see it! The new Martin Scorsese movie adaptation is sure to be a big event in the fall!

"The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny, and Murder" by David Grann, author of "The Killers of the Flower Moon"
David Grann’s "The Wager" is a gripping account of a naval misadventure forgotten in the annals of history. The book, set in 1740 with England at war with Spain, follows the struggles of the crew of the HMS Wager as they travel halfway around the globe in pursuit of a Spanish treasure galleon. Beset by illness, weather and intrigue, the Wager was eventually shipwrecked on a tiny island off the coast of Chile in some of the most dangerous seas on earth. What followed was the British navy’s worst nightmare – mutiny! Grann’s in-depth research makes you feel like you are there with the sailors as they fight for their lives in the South-Atlantic and again in London at the court-martial. The trial captivated the nation, and readers will be on the edge of their seats to discover the fate of the crew of The Wager.
