The Hornets preseason event, Cool School Field Trip, will take place at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday, October 15, at 11 a.m. Attendance is expected to be 16,000 middle school students transported in up to 400 school buses. Heavy uptown traffic is expected starting at 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. On-street parking will be very limited within the perimeter of McDowell Street, Stonewall Street, College Street and 7th Street. Commuters should plan accordingly.
School children will be crossing streets and walking to the Arena from remote on-street and lot parking. Motorists are cautioned to be alert at all times.
The event will be held 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. on October 17-18 on Tryon Street from Third to Fifth Street. Fourth and Trade Streets between Church Street and College Street will also be closed. All streets will close on Thursday, October 16, at 9:30 a.m. Trade and Fourth Streets will reopen for the Thursday evening and Friday morning rush hours.
