August 16-17: Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade

The Charlotte Pride Festival will be held from 12 p.m. - 11 p.m. on Saturday, August 16 and from 12 p.m. - 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 17. Tryon Street from Stonewall Street to 4th Street, Levine Avenue from Church Street to Tryon Street, Martin Luther King Boulevard from Church Street to College Street, and 3rd Street from Church Street to College Street will close on Saturday, August 16 at 6 a.m. until Sunday, August 17 at 10 p.m.

The Pride Parade will begin Sunday, August 17 at 1 p.m. at 9th Street and Tryon Street. The parade will proceed down Tryon Street turning at Trade Street towards College Street. Event organizers expect 10,000 attendees.  Staging for the parade will close Tryon Street between 9th Street and 11th Street and the cross streets between Church Street and College Street at 11 a.m until 3:15 p.m.

August 23: OrthoCarolina 10K Classic

The event will begin on Saturday, August 23 at 6:30 a.m on the corner of Randolph Road and Colonial .  The route uses Randolph Road, Chestnut Avenue, Commonwealth Avenue, and North Dolger Avenue. For more information go to http://www.orthocarolinaclassic.com.

 

Route for OrthoCarolina Classic 10K

August 23: Yiasou Greek Festival 5K

The event begins on Saturday, August 23 at 6:30 a.m. on East Boulevard between Springdale and Winthrop. The westbound lane of East Boulevard will close completely between Euclid Avenue and Dilworth Road West until 8:30 a.m. The Eastbound traffic will open at 9 a.m. The route uses Dilworth Road West, Dilworth Road East, East Boulevard, Park Road, Kingston Avenue, Lyndhurst Avenue, and Worthington Avenue. August 24: The American Legion Parade

The parade begins on Sunday, August 24 at 4 p.m. at 9th and Tryon Street.  The parade will follow the standard parade route down Tryon Street ending at Third Street. Staging for the parade will close Tryon Street between 9th Street and 11th Street and the cross streets between Church Street and College Street at 2 p.m. until 6:15 p.m.

The parade begins on Monday, September 1 at 11 a.m. at 9th and Tryon Street. The parade will follow the standard parade route down Tryon Street ending at 3rd Street.  Event organizers expect 500 participants. Staging for the parade will close Tryon Street between 9th Street and 11th Street and the cross streets between Church Street and College Street at 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

September 6: Purple Strides 5K

The event will start at 7 a.m. on Saturday, September 6 at South Kings Drive in front of the Overcash Building at CPCC. Event organizers expect 850 participants. The route will use South Kings Drive, East 7th Street, Dotger Avenue, 5th Street, Torrent Avenue, 4th Street, and Pease Lane. September 6: Plaza Midwood Music and Arts Festival

The event begins on Saturday, September 6 at 8 a.m. on Commonwealth Avenue.  Event Organizers expect 2500 participants.  For more information go to http://thecommongroundfestival.com/ .


September 6: Rock and Read 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run

The event will begin on Saturday, September 6 at 8 a.m on The Plaza before crossing over Central Avenue.  Event organizers expect 250 participants. The route includes The Plaza, McClintock Road, Morningside Drive, Roland Street, Dearmon Drive, Dunhill Drive, Sablewood Drive and Belvedere Avenue.
