Welcome to the first e-newsletter format of the Street Use and Event Notice, also known as the SUN. You will find the same information, but it's organized differently. On the left column, you'll find a list of events, dates of events at Uptown venues, street closings and helpful links. In this column, you'll see full details for each event. A lot of information is linked to our website so please click on "(map)" and "(more)" to see additional information for items.

The event runs from Thursday, May 22 through Saturday, May 24. The event hours will be noon to 11 p.m. on all three days. Event organizers expect 400,000 spectators. The closures will begin Wednesday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m. and all roads will re-open Sunday, May 24 at 8 a.m. For more information or to sign up for uptown event notifications, please visit http://uptownevents.charlottenc.gov or go to www.600festival.com.
The event will be held from 5:30 to 9 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at Romare Bearden park. Organizers expect 1000 participants. One lane of Third Street between Mint Street and Church Street will be closed from noon until midnight. Contact Romare Bearden Park at 704-432-4280.
The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 1 at the Novant Health Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center. Event organizers expect 350 attendees. South Colonial Avenue between Providence Road and Queens Road will be closed. Contact the Novant Health Buddy Kemp Cancer Support Center at 704-384-5223.
The event takes place on Tryon Street Friday, June 6 and Saturday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. On Sunday, June 8 event hours will be 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Event organizers expect 100,000 attendees. The following streets will close beginning Thursday, June 5 at noon:
- Tryon Street from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard
to Sixth Street
- Trade Street from College Street to Church Street
The cross-streets (Third Street, Fourth Street and Fifth Street) between College Street and Sixth Street will close at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 5. These streets will re-open from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Friday, June 6 with the exception of Trade Street. All streets will reopen by 11 p.m. on Sunday, June 8. The event will be held noon to 4 p.m. on Friday, June 6 at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Event organizers expect 1,000 attendees. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Caldwell Street and Brevard Street will be closed.
The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 on Morehead Street newar Harding Place. Event organizers expect 350 participants. The route uses Morehead Street, McNiche Sreet, West Hill Street, South Cedar Street, West First Street, Westbrook Drive, South Clarkson Street and Greenleaf Avenue. The race will begin at 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 7 at 2229 North Davidson Street. Event organizers expect 1,000 participants. The route uses East 26th Street, Pinckney Avenue, Charlotes Avenue, North McDowell Street, East 35th Street, Academy Street, Herrin Avenue, East 36th Street, North Davidson Street and East 28th Street. The race begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, June 7 at Huntingtowne Farms Elementary School. Event organizers expect 400 particpants. The route uses Huntingtowne Farms Lane, Goneaway Road, Red Barn Lane, Ramblewood Lane, the Little Sugar Creek Greenway, Burnt Mill Road, Spring Valley Road, Finley Place, Northampton Drive and Tall Oaks Trail.
