Monthly Lunch with the County Manager
When I was hired, it was a priority of mine to make sure that County employees are continually valued and heard. As part of this commitment, I am implementing “Dine with Dena,” a monthly lunch for County employees starting in April.
The lunch is an informal way for me to hear what employees think about their jobs, what’s working and what could be improved. Reservations for 15 people each month are on a first-come, first-served basis and can be made through myHR starting on April 1.
This feedback will be an invaluable tool in helping me make future decisions that affect our employees.
Employees’ Thoughts Matter
Mecklenburg County’s Employee Climate Survey (ECS) will be available April 14 – May 2. The annual survey gathers insight to employee perceptions and opinions related to their work experience with the County.
The survey results are used for reporting on the County’s Community & Corporate Scorecard, and to evaluate progress toward the Board of County Commissioners’ (BOCC) goals. Employees respond to questions about motivation and satisfaction, employee development, employee access to information, and technology that is necessary for employees to do their jobs.
In addition, the survey results inform employees about ways to understand the organizational culture, better engage employees, and address areas of opportunity for improvement within the County. Last year, there was an 81-percent response rate, which is extremely high for an organization this large.
Board members with questions about the ECS should contact Performance and Evaluation Manager Monica Allen by email or call 704-336-2283.
