Uptown Sidewalk Riding Restrictions

Sidewalk riding is allowed except in the area of Uptown bound by Church St., Stonewall St., College St. and 7th St. This restriction is for bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters. When riding on sidewalks, be visible, courteous and yield to pedestrians at all times.

October 22-25: US Bank Grand Opening Week

The event takes place on Tryon Street in the parking lane in front of 201 S. Tryon Street (near 4th Street).  It will start with a ribbon cutting on the 22nd, and each day will have lunch service and small programming.  Nothing runs past 2:00 p.m.

Tryon Street will remain open.

The event will be held for the grand opening of the first US Bank Branch in Charlotte.


October 26: PMNA Fall Crawl Costume Parade

The PMNA Fall Crawl Costume Parade will take place on October 26th at 11:30 AM and begins at Midwood Park. The route includes Wilheimina, Winter St., Kensington Ave., Ashland Ave. and Belvedere Ave. The parade ends at the Vine Church.


October 26 – Harvey B. Gantt 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

The event begins at 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

This event celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the Harvey B. Gantt Center being open.

Tryon Street from Stonewall Street to Levine Avenue will close at 12:00 p.m. and reopen at 12:00 a.m.

The estimated attendance is 450.


October 26: Runway 5K

The run begins Saturday, October 26 at 8 a.m. Event organizers expect 700 participants. The course will begin at 5020 Hangar Road at the US Airways Hangar Ramp, head east to 36R and then southbound to Gate 44 at Hangar Road and Yorkmont Road. The course will circle the old Airport terminal and return to the US Airways Hanger for the awards ceremony.

This year is the 12th year that runners and walkers will have the unique opportunity to run on one of the countries' busiest airports runways. This year is special because the Run is a key event for CLT250, a yearlong celebration of Charlotte’s 250th anniversary.

October 26: Running Scared 5-Miler and Monster Mile

The event begins Saturday, October 26 at 9 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park. Event organizers expect 400 attendees. The route uses South Mint Street, 4th Street, Summit Avenue, Morehead Street, Freedom Drive, Thrift Road, Tuckaseegee Road, Walnut Avenue and Grandin Road. The event begins Saturday, October 26 at 9 a.m. at Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. Event organizers expect 1,000 participants. The route uses Yancey Road, South Tryon Street, Clanton Road, Dewitt Lane, Freeland Lane, South Boulevard, Peterson Drive, Old Pineville Road and Verbena Street. Johnson C. Smith University Homecoming Parade takes place on October 26th at 10AM. It begins at West Charlotte High School on Senior Drive and the route includes LaSalle Street, Beatties Ford Road, Cemetery Street, Campus Street and Dixon Street. The parade ends at JCSU.


November 2: Walk to End Alzheimer's

The event begins Saturday, November 2 at 9 a.m. at BB&T Ballpark on South Mint Street. Event organizers expect 4,000 participants. The route uses West 4th Street, South Summit Avenue, Greenway, South Cedar and South Graham Street. Visit Walk to End Alzheimer’s for more information.

The event begins Saturday, November 2 at 8 a.m. at 2711 Randolph Road near Eastover Road. Event organizers expect 300 participants. The route uses Randolph Road, Hawthorne Lane, East 5th Street, Greenway Avenue, Cameron Avenue, East 5th Street, East 7th Street and private parking lots back to Randolph Road. November 3: 6th Street Closure Affecting Titans Game Day Traffic

6th Street between College and Tryon will be closed the weekend of November 2nd and 3rd.  This closure is necessary for the erection of a tower crane at a construction site at the corner of 6th and Tryon. Charlotte Transportation staff expects traffic impacts to be minimal given typical game day traffic patterns and the distance between the closure and Bank of America Stadium. This notice is being provided so that attendees can make alternate travel plans.


November 3: Panthers on Mint (TENN)

Event begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.

This is to create a space for Panthers fans to come together in celebration prior to home games. Organizers of the event report an expected attendance of 10,000.

Mint Street between Morehead Street and Stonewall Street will close at 6:30 p.m. November 2 and reopen at midnight on November 4.


November 9: Light The Night Walk

The event begins Saturday, November 9 at 4:30 p.m. at Romare Bearden Park. Event organizers expect 4,000 attendees. The route uses Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, South Mint Street, West Carson Boulevard, South Church Street, West Morehead Street and South Tryon Street. November 9: Salute to Veterans Parade

The Salute to Veterans Parade will take place on November 9th at 11:00 AM on Tryon Street. Event organizers expect 2,000 participants. Visit Salute to Veterans Parade for more information.


November 16: Novant Health Charlotte Marathon

The event begins Saturday, November 16 at 7:30 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park. Event organizers expect 5,000 participants. The marathon, half-marathon & 5K involve numerous street and lane closures along the marathon route. The marathon will begin at South Graham Street at 7:30 a.m. It follows a course through the Dilworth, Myers Park, South End, Third Ward, Belmont, NoDa, Plaza-Midwood, Chantilly, Elizabeth, and Second Ward neighborhoods. The race will finish on South Mint Street at BB&T Ballpark. Traffic delays should be expected along the marathon route. Visit Charlotte Marathon for more information.

November 17: Panthers on Mint (ATL)

Event begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.

This is to create a space for Panthers fans to come together in celebration prior to home games. Organizers of the event report an expected attendance of 10,000.

Mint Street between Morehead Street and Stonewall Street will close at 6:30 p.m. November 16 and reopen at midnight on November 18.

The estimated attendance is 10,000.
