Uptown Sidewalk Riding Restrictions

Sidewalk riding is allowed except in the area of Uptown bound by Church St., Stonewall St., College St. and 7th St. This restriction is for bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters. When riding on sidewalks, be visible, courteous and yield to pedestrians at all times.

October 3: USWMNT Fan Experience

Event begins at 4:30 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.

This is an event coinciding with the USWNT victory tour against Korea Republic at BOA Stadium. 

Mint Street between Morehead Street and Stonewall Street will close October 2 at 10:00 a.m. and reopen October 4 at 5:00 a.m.


October 4: ASC Culture Feast

Event begins at 6:00 p.m. and ends at 10:00 p.m.

The ASC Culture Feast is an opportunity for the community to gain exposure to a variety of vibrant cultural experiences.  The purpose of the event is to get the arts out of the buildings and onto the streets where it can be experienced by everyone.

Tryon Street between Stonewall Street and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and Levine Avenue between Tryon Street and Church Street will close at 9:30 a.m. and reopen at 3:00 a.m.

The estimated attendance is 900.


October 4: Strider Cup World Championship - Charlotte

Event begins at 4:00 p.m. on October 4; the overall event ends at 6:30 p.m. October 5.

The Strider Cup race Series gives young children a chance to put their Strider Balance Bike skills to the test at several stops across the US and worldwide.  This unique race series caters directly to children 2-6 years old who want to experience the thrill of racing.

Brevard Street between Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard and the entrance to the NASCAR Hall of Fame parking deck and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard between Brevard Street and Caldwell Street (eastbound lane only) will close at 11:00 a.m. on October 4 and reopen at 8:00 p.m. on October 5.

The estimated attendance is 1,700.


October 4: West Charlotte High School Homecoming Parade

West Charlotte High School Homecoming Parade takes place on October 4th at 4:00 PM. It begins at the West Charlotte Recreation Center on Senior Drive and the route includes Southwest Blvd, Quientin Street and Englehardt Street. The parade ends at West Charlotte High School.


October 5: Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure

The event begins Saturday, October 5 at 7:45 a.m. at 401 South Tryon Street. Event organizers expect 9,000 attendees. October 5: Hilly Chantilly 5K

The event begins Saturday, October 5 at 11:30 a.m. on Shenandoah Avenue. Event organizers expect 225 participants. The route will begin and end at 2042 Shenandoah Avenue. The route uses Shenandoah Avenue, Lorna Street, Kingsbury Drive, Bascom Street, Laburnum Avenue, St. Julian Street, Bay Street, Hanover Street, Chesterfield Avenue and The Plaza. October 5: 2019 Charger Spirit Run

The event begins Saturday, October 5 at 8 a.m. at Providence Day School. Event organizers expect 500 participants. The route uses Jefferson Drive, Lansing Drive, Lansdowne Road, Prett Court, Folger Drive, Wingrave Drive and Sardis Road. Visit Charger Spirit Run for more information.

October 6: Panthers on Mint (Jack)

Event begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 1:00 p.m.

This is to create a space for Panthers fans to come together in celebration prior to home games. Organizers of the event report an expected attendance of 10,000.

Mint Street between Morehead Street and Stonewall Street will close at 6:30 p.m. October 5 and reopen at midnight on October 7.


October 12: Hola Charlotte Festival

Event begins at 12 p.m. and ends at 7:30 p.m.

The entire community is invited to celebrate and experience Latin culture during Hispanic Heritage Month.  This family-oriented event will feature authentic food, music, dance and a Latin American village showcasing several Latin countries.

The following streets will close October 11 at 7:00 p.m. and reopen at 11:30 p.m. October 12:

Tryon Street from Stonewall Street to 4th Street;

Levine Avenue between Tryon Street and Church Street;

Martin Luther King Boulevard between College Street and Church Street;

3rd Street between College Street and Church Street.


October 12: Hopebuilders 5K

The event begins on Saturday, October 12 at 8 a.m. at Carolinas Medical Center. Event organizers expect 900 attendees. The route will begin and end between Brunswick Avenue and Ardsley Road. October 12: Out of the Darkness Community Walk

The event begins on Saturday, October 12 at 2 p.m. at W. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and South Mint Street. The event is held by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Event organizers expect 1500 attendees. Contact https://afsp.org for more information.

October 12-13: Festival of India

Event times both days are 12:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This is an event to share and celebrate Indian culture, foster diversity and ethnic awareness and promote cultural exchange in the Queen City.

The following streets will close October 12 at 6:00 a.m. and reopen October 13 at 11:30 p.m.:

5th Street between College Street and Church Street (Sunday, October 13 ONLY);

6th Street between College Street and Church Street.


October 13: Community Matters 4 Miler

The event begins on Sunday, October 13 at 8:30 a.m. at W. 1st Street and South Cedar Street. The Community Matters Four-Miler supports the Community Matters Café, where graduates of Charlotte Rescue Mission’s addiction recovery program transition back into the community by taking part in the café’s Life Skills Program. October 19: Hidden Valley Parade

Hidden Valley Parade takes place on October 19th at 10AM. It begins at Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church on Sugar Creek and the route includes Sugar Creek Road, Hidden Valley Road, Snow White Lane and Cinderella Road. The parade ends at Hidden Valley Elementary School.


October 19: The Blacktop Jungle 3v3

Event times are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This event is a basketball tournament that seeks to build up trust between races, foster a network of inclusivity and cohesion, encourage inspiration, and create intersectionality between communities.

Tryon Street between 7th Street and 9th Street and 8th Street between College Street and Church Street will close at 3:30 a.m. and reopen at 6:00 p.m.

Estimated attendance is 400.


October 19: Rocktoberfest Half-Marathon & 5-Mile Run

The event begins Saturday, October 19 at 7:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium; with the five mile run following at 8 a.m. Event organizers expect 1,000 participants. The route uses 7th Street, Central Avenue, Hawthorne Lane, Belvedere Avenue, Thomas Avenue, Chestnut Avenue, The Plaza, Shamrock Drive, Hillard Drive, Jeff Street, Airlie Street, Country Club Drive, Dunlavin Way, Bentley Place, Eastway Drive, Arnold Drive, Briar Creek Greenway, Mosaic Avenue, Logie Avenue, Roland Street, Truman Road, Belvedere Avenue, Winter Street, Wilhelmina Avenue, Mecklenburg Avenue, The Plaza, McClintock Road, St. Julien Street, Commonwealth Avenue, Television Place, Washburn Avenue, Monroe Road and East 5th Street and Armory Drive. The event begins Saturday, October 19 at 8 a.m. in South Park at Fairview Plaza. Event organizers expect 300 participants. The route uses South Executive Park Drive, Park South Drive, Sulkirk Road, Harbin Avenue, Kitley Place, Sussex Avenue, Brookfield Drive, Severn Avenue, Long Meadow Road, Stokes Avenue, Royal Crest Drive and Piedmont Row Drive. October 20: Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk

The event begins Sunday, October 20 at 2:30 p.m. at Independence Park at 7th Street and Armory Drive. Event organizers expect 1,000 participants. October 22-25: US Bank Grand Opening Week

The event takes place on Tryon Street in the parking lane in front of 201 S. Tryon Street (near 4th Street).  It will start with a ribbon cutting on the 22nd, and each day will have lunch service and small programming.  Nothing runs past 2:00 p.m.

Tryon Street will remain open.

The event will be held for the grand opening of the first US Bank Branch in Charlotte.


October 26: PMNA Fall Crawl Costume Parade

The PMNA Fall Crawl Costume Parade will take place on October 26th at 11:30 AM and begins at Midwood Park. The route includes Wilheimina, Winter St., Kensington Ave., Ashland Ave. and Belvedere Ave. The parade ends at the Vine Church.


October 26 – Harvey B. Gantt 10 Year Anniversary Celebration

The event begins at 6 p.m. until 10:30 p.m.

This event celebrates the 10 year anniversary of the Harvey B. Gantt Center being open.

Tryon Street from Stonewall Street to Levine Avenue will close at 12:00 p.m. and reopen at 12:00 a.m.

The estimated attendance is 450.


October 26: Runway 5K

The run begins Saturday, October 26 at 8 a.m. Event organizers expect 700 participants. The course will begin at 5020 Hangar Road at the US Airways Hangar Ramp, head east to 36R and then southbound to Gate 44 at Hangar Road and Yorkmont Road. The course will circle the old Airport terminal and return to the US Airways Hanger for the awards ceremony.

This year is the 12th year that runners and walkers will have the unique opportunity to run on one of the countries' busiest airports runways. This year is special because the Run is a key event for CLT250, a yearlong celebration of Charlotte’s 250th anniversary.

October 26: Running Scared 5-Miler and Monster Mile

The event begins Saturday, October 26 at 9 a.m. at Romare Bearden Park. Event organizers expect 400 attendees. The route uses South Mint Street, 4th Street, Summit Avenue, Morehead Street, Freedom Drive, Thrift Road, Tuckaseegee Road, Walnut Avenue and Grandin Road. November 2: Walk to End Alzheimer's
