Uptown Sidewalk Riding Restrictions

Sidewalk riding is allowed except in the area of Uptown bound by Church St., Stonewall St., College St. and 7th St. This restriction is for bikes, e-bikes and e-scooters. When riding on sidewalks, be visible, courteous and yield to pedestrians at all times.

May 18: PPRSC Pineapple Dash

The race will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 18 at the Providence Plantation Racket & Swim Club on Houston Branch Road. Event organizers expect 500 participants. May 18: American Cancer Society Relay for Life

The event begins at 5 p.m. at First Ward Park. The purpose of this event is to raise awareness and money in the fight against cancer. The relay uses 8th Street between College St. and Brevard St., which will close from 9 a.m. May 17th until 5 p.m. May 19th. Brevard St. between 7th St. and 9th St. will close from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. on May 18th. Visit American Cancer Society for more information.


May 23-25: Circle K Speed Street

The event begins Thursday, May 23 at 12 p.m. The route uses Tryon Street between Trade Street and Stonewall Street; 3rd and 4th Streets between Church Street and College Street; Levine Avenue between Church Street and Tryon Street; MLK Blvd. Between Church Street and College Street; Mint Street between 3rd Street and MLK Blvd. Visit 600 Festival for more information.


June 1: King Tiger 5K at University City

The event begins Saturday June 1 at 7:30 a.m. at the Arbors Shopping Center off Mallard Creek Church Road. Event organizers expect 500 attendees. The route uses Mallard Creek Church Road, Mallard Creek Road, Galloway Drive, Fountaingrove Drive, Chipstone Road, Copperplate Road, Claude Freeman Drive and Arbors Drive. June 2: Ramblin' Rose Women’s Only Triathlon - South Charlotte

The event begins Sunday, June 2 at 8 a.m. at the Harris YMCA. Organizers expect 400 attendees. Participants swim in the indoor pool of the Harris YMCA. The bike course uses Quail Hollow Road, Gleneagles Road, Park Road and Sharon Road. The majority of the run course keeps runners on the YMCA campus and Sharon Hills Road. June 9: Race to the Taste 5K and Cupcake Run/Walk
