The 68th annual NBA All-Star Game will take place at the Spectrum Center on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2019. More than 150,000 fans are expected to descend upon Charlotte for a week of games and events.
NBA All-Star events will begin Feb. 14, 2019, and continue through Feb. 17, 2019.
Heavy pedestrian traffic is expected in Uptown. The following roads surrounding Spectrum Arena will be closed to public traffic beginning the night of Thursday, Feb. 14 (updated date):
- Caldwell Street and Brevard Street between 4th Street and 6th Street
- East Trade Street and East 5th Street between College Street and North Davidson Street
It is recommended to avoid Independence Boulevard and the Bojangles' Coliseum area on Friday afternoon.
Additionally, parking around the AvidXchange Music Factory will be limited.

The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) basketball tournament is February 25 – March 2, 2019. Games on February 25, 26, and 27 will be at Bojangles' Coliseum, followed by the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship finals being held at Spectrum Center from February 28 to March 2. Events will be held throughout the tournament at the Charlotte Convention Center. Visit CIAA Tournament for more information. Heavy Uptown pedestrian and motorist traffic is expected.
Motorists are advised to be prepared for heavy traffic on Wednesday, February 27 for Education Day. Approximately 120 school buses will be transporting 4,000 young students and parking around the uptown area for Education Day activities. Children will be walking from and to buses and various venues, and traffic will be very heavy.
