August 10: Live on the Green

The event begins Friday, August 10 at 6 p.m. at First Ward Park. First Ward Park is hosting free concerts, twice monthly, from June to mid-September. Live on the Green will feature high-profile touring bands. Bands begin at 7 p.m. Event organizers expect 1,000 attendees. Eighth Street will be closed from Thursday at 8 a.m. until Friday at 11 p.m. for the event. August 11: Street repairs at Fourth and Cedar streets

Crews will perform road maintenance and repairs at the Fourth and Cedar streets intersection. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures during the day. 


August 11-12: Festival of India

The event is Saturday, August 11 from noon until 8 p.m. and Sunday, August 12 from noon until 7 p.m. at Belk Theater. Event organizers expect 8,000 attendees. Tryon Street between 4th and 5th Streets and Trade Street from College to Church Streets will close from 6 a.m. Saturday until 10:30 p.m. Sunday. August 11: LoSo Block Party

The event begins Saturday, August 11 at 2 p.m. at The Olde Mecklenburg Brewery. Event organizers expect 3,000 attendees. Yancey Road from Heriot Avenue to Verbena Street and Southside Drive from Yancey Road to the driveway of the Sugar Creek Brewery will be closed from noon until 11:30 p.m. Visit OldeMeck for more information. 


August 18: CF Cycle For Life

The event begins Saturday, August 18 at 6:30 a.m. at The Foundry on South Cedar Street. Event organizers expect 150 participants. The route uses Cedar Street, State Street, Berryhill Road, Greenland Avenue, Remount Road, Wallace Neel Road, Old Dowd Road, Sam Wilson Road, Performance Road, Moores Chapel Loop, US 29/US 74, Walkers Ferry Road, Mt. Olive Church Road, Dixie River Run, Beam Road, Yorkmont Road, Tyvola Road, West Boulevard, Mint Street and Morehead Street. Visit Charlotte CF Cycle for Life for more information.


August 18: OrthoCarolina Classic

The event begins Saturday, August 18 at 7:30 a.m. on the corner of Vail Avenue and North Colonial Avenue. Event organizers expect 1,000 attendees. The 5K route uses Vail Avenue, North Laurel Avenue, East Fifth Street, East Seventh Street, Dunn Avenue, Skyland Avenue, Randolph Road and Dotger Avenue. The 10K route uses Vail Avenue, North Laurel Avenue, East Fifth Street, East Seventh Street/Monroe Road, North Wendover Road, Randolph Road and Dotger Avenue. August 18-19: Charlotte Pride Festival and Parade

The Charlotte Pride Festival will be held from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, August 18 and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, August 19 on Tryon Street between Trade Street and Stonewall Street. Event organizers expect 130,000 attendees.

Street closures are as follows:

Friday, August 17, 9 a.m.:

  • Tryon Street from Levine Avenue of the Arts to Trade Street
  • All cross streets will remain open

Saturday, August 18, 6 a.m.:

  • Tryon Street between Stonewall and Trade Street
  • All cross streets will close – Levine Avenue of the Arts, Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Third and Fourth streets

Sunday, August 19, 11 p.m.: Streets will reopen. 

The Charlotte Pride Parade will begin Sunday, August 19 at 1 p.m. at Ninth Street and Tryon Street. The parade turns east on Trade Street and disperses on College Street. Staging for the parade will close Tryon Street between Ninth and 11th streets and the cross streets between Church Street and College Street at 11 a.m. until 4 p.m.

August 18: 2018 City of Immigrants 5K

The event begins Saturday, August 18 at 6 p.m. at the Midwood International & Cultural Center on Central Avenue. Event organizers expect 250 attendees. The route uses Hamorton Place, Nassau Boulevard, Chestnut Avenue, Tippah Avenue, Mimosa Avenue, Thurmond Place, Mecklenburg Avenue, Belevdere Avenue, Winter Street, Kensington Drive, Kenwood Avenue, Randall Street and Landis Avenue. August 23: Elevation Church Uptown

The event begins on Thursday, August 23 at 7 p.m. at the Knight Theater. Event organizers expect 50 attendees. Levine Avenue will be closed between Church and Tryon streets from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. for the event.

Event organizers expect 1,000 participants. The westbound lane of East Boulevard will close completely between Euclid Avenue and Dilworth Road West until 8:30 a.m. The route uses Dilworth Road West, Dilworth Road East, East Boulevard, Park Road, East Kingston Avenue, Lyndhurst Avenue and East Worthington Avenue. August 25: Tour de Turns

The event begins Saturday, August 25 at 8 a.m. at Carmel Road Neighborhood Park. Event organizers expect 450 participants. The routes are through 25 South Charlotte neighborhood streets. Visit Tour de Turns for more information.
