The City of Charlotte Department of Transportation, Charlotte
Area Transit System and Start 2 Finish are once again joining forces to host
one of Charlotte's most healthy and inspiring events: 2018 BIKE! Charlotte. With
more than 50 activities already scheduled, BIKE! Charlotte has something for
everyone starting Friday, April 27 through the following Sunday, May 13.
BIKE! Charlotte is 17 days of bicycle-related events and
promotions used to encourage families, friends and colleagues to break out the
bike and integrate it into their daily routine. The theme for the fourteenth
annual event is "Riding for a Better Community". Whether used for
transportation or recreation, bicycles are efficient, non polluting modes of
travel with great health benefits. It’s an opportunity to set your life in

The race begins Saturday, April 28 at 7 a.m. on
Mammoth Oaks Drive. Event organizers expect 1,000 participants. The route
includes Mammoth Oaks Drive, Lakeview Drive, Creola Road, Preston Lane,

the Duke Energy Center on South Tryon Street. Event organizers expect 500

the Arboretum Shopping Center. Event organizers expect 750 attendees. The route
uses Providence Road, Windbluff Drive, Rounding Run Road, Raintree Lane and

organizers expect 500 attendees. The route is from Socrates Academy down

the Whitehall Corporate Center. Event organizers expect 900 participants. The route

The event begins Saturday, April 28 at 11 a.m. at Romare Bearden
Park. Event organizers expect 3,000 attendees. The route uses South Mint
Street, West Fourth Street, West Forth Street Extension, Walnut Avenue, Litaker

 March for Babies 5K
The event begins Sunday, April 29 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Charlotte-Mecklenburg’s
fifth Open Streets 704 powered by BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina event
will be within walking and biking distance of the Plaza Midwood, Belmont, Villa
Heights, NoDa, Optimist Park and Commonwealth neighborhoods. Come out and
experience the 4 mile route!
Open Streets 704 opens a length of city streets for an afternoon
just for people! Taking cues from similar events around the country and the
world, Open Streets 704 aims to build a better, healthier, connected community
by encouraging Charlotte and Mecklenburg area residents to walk, bicycle, and

The tournament begins Monday, April 30 and ends
Sunday, May 6 at Quail Hollow Club. Glen Eagles Road between Quail Hollow Road

Education Day game at BB&T Ballpark is Wednesday, May 2 at
11:05 a.m. The event will bring an additional 75+ school buses around the
BB&T Ballpark on Wednesday morning. Event organizers expect 4,500 students in addition to the general public in attendance for the game. Heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic is expected around the
ballpark leading up to the start of the game. Commuters should use caution and
allow extra travel time.
The event begins Friday, May 4 at 7 p.m. on Tryon Street. Event
organizers expect 1,000 attendees. The route uses South Tryon Street, Winona
Street, Winnifred Street, West Bland Street, South Mint Street, West Morehead Street, South Cedar
Street, West Fourth Street, South Graham Street and West Stonewall Street.

The event begins Saturday, May 5 at 8:30 a.m. on
East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Event organizers expect 250 attendees.
The route uses East Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, South Davidson Street,

Creek Greenway (Belk Plaza) at 425 North Kings Drive. Event organizers expect
3,000 participants. The route uses North Kings Drive, East Third Street, North
Torrence Street, Park Drive, Charlottetowne Avenue, Armory Drive and Same

The Kings Drive Art Walk is May 5 – 6 at Pearl
Park. The festival is from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 5 and from 11
a.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6. The Pearl Parkway Bridge will be closed from May 5 at 5 a.m. until May 6 at 8 p.m. Event organizers expect 35,000 attendees.
