Many of us visit friends and family, go shopping and take road
trips this time of year. The holidays tend to keep us busy; maybe even
distracted. The following are a few safety reminders for holiday travel:
- Remember
to Watch
for Me NC. Since the sunsets earlier, pedestrians and
bicyclists may be harder to see. We want all motorists, bicyclists and
pedestrians to travel safely and obey the rules of the road.
- Turn
off the distractions; no text message, post or playlist is worth the risk.
- Expect
the unexpected. You never know when you have to stop abruptly, so keep
large gifts/boxes and anything that can become a projectile in
the trunk.
- Have
a designated driver to get you home safely if you plan to drink alcohol
while you are out.
- Pack a
safety kit to keep in your car. In addition to first aid supplies, you
should include work/warm gloves, flashlights (with batteries), blankets
and water.
