October 9 - 14: Breakin’ Convention 2017

October 12: Thursday Night Football Panthers vs. Eagles

Staging for the NFL Productions for the Carolina Panthers game on October 12 will begin on October 11. Mint Street will be closed from Stonewall/Graham to Morehead Street from Wednesday, October 11 at 6 p.m. until Friday, October 13 at 1 a.m. Motorists should expect delays.


October 13-14: First Ward Fall Festival

The event begins on Friday, October 13 at 6 p.m. until Saturday, October 14 at 10 p.m. at First Ward Park. Event organizers expect 1,500 attendees. October 14: Hopebuilders 5K

The event begins on Sunday, October 14 at 8 a.m. at Carolinas Medical Center. Event organizers expect 900 attendees. The route will begin and end between Brunswick Avenue and Ardsley Road. October 14: Providence Day School 5K

The event begins on Sunday, October 14 at 8 a.m. at Providence Day School. Event organizers expect 300 attendees. The route will begin and end between Brunswick Avenue and Ardsley Road. The route uses Jefferson Drive, Lansing Drive, Lansdowne Road, Prett Court, Folger Drive, Wingrave Drive and Sardis Road. Visit Providence Day School 5K for more information.


October 14: Charlotte CROP Hunger Walk

The event begins on Saturday, October 14 at 9 a.m. at Independence Park at 7th Street and Armory Drive. Event organizers expect 2,500 participants. October 15: Open Streets 704

The event begins on Sunday, October 15 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The City of Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NC and Partners for Parks will clear the roads for the fourth Open Streets 704 event within walking and biking distance of the Madison Park, Selwyn Park, Montford Park, Freedom Park, Myers Park, Ashbrook, LoSo, and Colonial Village neighborhoods. Come out and experience the 5.5 mile route!

Open Streets 704 is a series of four Charlotte events made possible by a grant from the Knight Foundation. Open Streets 704 will literally open a length of city streets for an afternoon just for people! Taking cues from similar events around the country and the world, Open Streets 704 aims to build a better, healthier, connected community by encouraging Charlotte and Mecklenburg area residents to walk, bicycle, and experience the city together in a way that’s just not possible in a car. October 21: Johnson C. Smith University 2017 Homecoming Parade

The parade begins on Saturday, October 21 at 10 a.m. at the West Charlotte High School on Senior Drive at Southwest Boulevard. Event organizers expect 2,500 attendees. October 21: Rocktoberfest Half-Marathon & 5-Mile Run

The run begins on Saturday, October 21 at 7:30 a.m. at Memorial Stadium; with the five mile run following at 8 a.m. Event organizers expect 1,400 participants. The route uses South Kings Drive, Central Avenue, Hawthorne Lane, Belvedere Avenue, Thomas Avenue, Chestnut Avenue, The Plaza, Shamrock Drive, Hillard Drive, Jeff Street, Airlie Street, Country Club Drive, Dunlavin Way, Bentley Place, Eastway Drive, Arnold Drive, Briar Creek Greenway, Logie Avenue, Roland Street, Club Road, Belvedere Avenue, Winter Street, Wilhelmina Avenue, Mecklenburg Avenue, The Plaza, McClintock Road, St. Julien Street, Commonwealth Avenue, Briar Creek Road,Television Place, Washburn Avneue, Monroe Road and East 7th Street. October 21: 2017 Queen City Jack & Jill Race for Hope 5K
